You've probably already spent a fortune on banner ads, classified ads or all sorts of promotional tactics. Basic SEO Tips
People round the world target three major search engine Google, Yahoo and MSN. The main idea is to drive in maximum traffic through these Search Engines. But how do you actually get to rank on all the three.
The page should be properly structured along with quality content. By quality content I mean content which should be unique and should contain targeted keywords distributes according to the need of the page. But this does not mean that you should start spamming the page with keyword spamming.
The navigation of the page should be user friendly with no flashy images or javascript buttons. And even if they are used then it should be kept in mind that the noscript tag should be used for search engine bots to crawl the links.
The images should have proper Alt Attributes to explain the image and not just put in long list of keywords to fool the Search Engines. Remember that Search Engine are smarter.
Build quality links to you pages. This will help gain trust in the eyes of the Search Engines. Links build on the basis of quality content or editorial links stands out. Otherwise you deal with link farms and link building partners and get banned by Search Engines in the near future.
Make sure that your site is submitted to quality directories. By quality directories I mean quality and they are very few. Do not submit to directories that ask for a reciprocal link back. Also, make sure you learn the pros and cons before submitting to a particular category.

Off Page Optimization
Link Building – As discussed by Matt Cuts. Editorial links are always preferred. But quality links gathered through unique content on the site is also favorable.
Anchor Text – Anchor Text is another very important factor. The anchor text should be very well chalked out according to the need of the optimization plan.
Page Targeting – It is always considered to be of utmost importance that you should try to target two to maximum three keywords per page. This way you can target most keywords to your site rather than targeting 10 keywords per page.

Choosing the Right Keyword
We all know that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) deals with many aspects of a site but while optimizing a site people generally tend to make mistake selecting the right keyword for the site they are trying to optimize.
The first basic step in optimizing a site starts with proper selection of keyword. If this goes well then you know that 50 percent of your work is done. I am saying so coz even if you rank in the top ten for your targeted keyword in Google it will not help you gain traffic to your site as chosen keyword is an improper selection. So, your first criteria is to choose the best possible keyword that have an comfortable level of competition and would also fetch good visitors to your site.
Now, the question arises how you would actually choose the right keyword for your site. Well, like other people around I will not beat around the bush and directly come to the point. On the first instance I would suggest you to go through your site and understand the theme of it. Analyze what a normal visitor would type in to find similar sites. List down on the number of keywords that you could possibly find out. Check out with your friends and colleagues to give you suggestions. Once you have a list of keywords try to narrow down on the list by eliminating improper and irrelevant keywords.
Once this is over, now try to figure out from the keyword list how many times each keyword is being searched worldwide per month. Once you are convinced about the search rate list down the top 10 keyword as per the search rate. Do not try to optimize your pages for keywords that have high search rate coz it will apparently have high competition. Try to figure out some keywords that will give you fair enough visitors but will have less competition.
Now, when you have selected three to five keywords try to optimize your page keeping in mind that it’s better to optimize a page with twp key phrases.
So, what are you waiting for start your optimizing work. Oops, probably you are waiting for tools that will help you in searching for the search rate for your keywords. Well, I try a combination of tools. I believe none of the tools available provide accurate data but definitely they will help you to approximately guess on the search rate.

How Big is your Blogroll -or- The Importance of Link Juice
Recently I’ve been noticing more and more blogs that have blogrolls of 10, 20 even 30 or more links. Some of these are really good blogs and a few even rank pretty well. When I see these blogs I often wonder if they realize how much ranking they are giving away.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against a little link love. As a matter of fact I’m very much for it. But giving a little link love here and there and giving someone a link on every single page of your blog are two totally different things.
To me, link juice is extremely important. The more I can preserve for my own pages, your dofollowed comment links and links in individual posts the better. If my blogroll had loads of links, the link juice that passes on to my other pages, your dofollowed comment links and other people’s links that I link to in individual posts would be far less!
If someones blog is so good that you want to give them a sitewide link, then you’ll probably be linking to their posts often anyway. Preserve your link juice by reducing the size of your blog roll and do just that. Link to their posts and give them link love that way. This way when you do link to their posts they will get more out of it and your own posts will rank higher, as the blogroll is no longer sucking up all your link juice.
The fact that every page on the Internet distributes PR among all the links that appear on it isn’t anything new. It’s just surprising how many people don’t think of that when building their blogroll.
My aim isin’t to criticize anyone. It’s actually to help anyone that will listen. If you have 10 or more links in your blogroll and you reduce that number considerably, I almost guarantee your blog’s rankings will gradually increase, as it’s own links will now be getting much more link juice.

5. Optimize the Meta Description Tag
• Give appropriate descriptions (as some search engines display this description in the search result), make it more appropriate to your site. Put only targeted keywords in description. Do not stuff the description with more keywords. Restrict the number of words in this tag to 10 to 15 words.
• Place the most important phrases at the start of the description, so, even if any search engine omits some part of the description, the important phrases will be displayed.
6. Optimize the Meta Keywords Tag
The importance of Meta Tags is debated these days. So this is an optional extra.

Affiliate marketing for bloggers
Affiliate marketing can be the most profitable source of income for a blogger if it’s done the wright way. However, there is a lot more work involved compared to other types of income streams like contextual advertising, selling links, placing banners etc.
It there is somebody on this planet who still doesn’t know what affiliate marketing is, here is a short explanation: you get payed every time somebody buys a product or a service following your recommendation. You basically act like and online salesman; therefore, if you plan to become an affiliate marketeer, you should take a step back for a minute, forget all about websites, blogs, seo and other internet related stuff and do a little research on “classic” selling techniques. See what’s involved, what are the steps from approaching a potential customer to closing a deal, and after that, see how you can adapt all that knowledge to affiliate marketing.
The first sales model that I am going to blog about is A.I.D.A. It stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action (also known as “Hierarchy of Effects“), and it’s probably one of the oldest around (it appeared in the late ’50s) but it is even more relevant today than it was back than.
Let’s see how it can be applied to blogging:
Attention
Placement of affiliate links
This is the first thing that you need to have in mind. Don’t think for a minute that placing your affiliate links in your side bar is enough to get attention and expect conversions. Imagine a product left on a back shelf of a store, while all the others are well placed in front on of the window; how many people will actually see that product?
You have to bring it under the spotlight from time to time and blog about it. Make separate categories for all the posts on products that you promote, don’t let them uncategorized or placed in others that are more or less related. This way people will understand that those are as “important” as your regular posts and get their attention.
Landing page
When you blog about it, don’t do it only with your loyal readers in mind. That post will serve as a landing page for visitors that have searched for terms related to that specific product or service, and they may never had heard about your blog before. Your frequent visitors will probably read it, but you have less than 10 seconds to get the attention of the new ones. However, do it in a professional way, not the usual all caps, large red fonts, and highlighted testimonials; everybody has had enough of that. Try to come up with an intriguing title (like you normally would for a regular article), but don’t reveal the product name… in fact don’t even say nothing about the product itself. A good approach would be: “Are you tired of -problem that your product will solve-……?”. Ok, I know that it is not the best example, but you got the idea, so be creative!
Interest
Type of products you promote
Your effort of getting people’s attention are useless, if what you are trying to sell doesn’t interest them. Unlike the previous stage, you should do this step focusing mainly on your loyal visitors, and promote products that you think are useful to them. You must resist the temptation of promoting products that are totally unrelated (regardless of how profitable they may seem) due to 2 main reasons:
1) It will annoy your loyal audience
2)There is little to no chance of ranking high in search engines for terms that are not related in any way to your blog.
However, you could chose some products that are not directly related to your niche, but still could be useful for people that come to read your blog. For example, if your blog is focused on “digital painting techniques” you may have success by promoting graphic cards.
Language
When you write the “promoting” article, think about who’s reading it. Depending on the profile of your audience, you may go for academic/familiar, formal/informal, etc. approaches.
As a general idea, something is interesting if it’s relevant to the ones you are trying to reach and if it has the potential of bringing them some advantages.
Desire
It is easy to confuse “interest” with “desire” because the 2 concepts are similar. However, keep in mind that “desire” is generated by “interest” and not the other way around. Something may be interesting in the eyes of your readers, but this does not necessarily mean that they will feel the urge to actually own it. It is that “urge” that you should strive to trigger in their mind. Try to understand exactly what are their needs, and explain as detailed as possible how that product or service could help them solve their problems, improve some aspects of their activities etc.
Action
The ultimate goal - determining the reader to purchase whatever you are promoting. Everybody has some degree of natural caution, and your job is to help them overcome it.
First of all, you have to believe yourself in the quality of the product that you are trying to sell.
Second, you have to be prepared to answer every possible question, so you have to know the product inside out. When you answer to questions, do it directly on your blog, where everybody can see it, so you will gain credibility. Bloggers have a huge advantage over “regular” webmasters when doing affiliate marketing because of this, so make sure you capitalize this it also.
Final thoughts
If you look carefully at the order of stages presented above, you realize that this is the normal process that is taking place when you decide to buy anything.
First, it get’s your attention; second, if it’s relevant to what you are interested in, you want to know more about it. If it appears to answer to your particular needs, you begin to desire it. Finally, when you have no further doubts about it, you decide to buy.

I’ve noticed a lot of bloggers report their monthly earnings, but they make no mention of the costs that are associated with running their businesses.
One of the easiest ways to knock some numbers off your cost streams is by saving energy. A lot of people scoff at the idea of saving energy (hey, even I speak out against being energy efficient sometimes) but its no different than making more money each month and everybody is more than willing to do that! So, for those of you who are already thinking this is stupid, just turn it around and read this based on the fact you will be “earning” more money each month, because the end result is the same.
1. Let Food Cool Down Before You Place Into Your Fridge - Placing warm food into your fridge causes your fridge to have to work overtime to cool the food down. This is a no brainer, placing hot food into a refridgerator is no different than trying to heat your home in winter while leaving the patio door wide open. While we’re at the fridge, adjust the temperature settings so they are not maxed out (coldest).
2. Replace Light Bulbs With Fluorescent Bulbs - You don’t need to change over every bulb in the house, but try to change the ones that are on the most. Some people (me!) have stayed away from these energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs because they give off very harsh white/blue type light as opposed to the warmer yellowish light of regular bulbs–THIS IS NOT TRUE anymore. Most modern fluorscent bulbs give off very similar light.
3. Remove Dust - This one may sound like it does nothing in terms of saving energy, but dust makes many electrical devices inefficient. Remove the dust from your power supply on your computer and you’ll find that the power saving variable speed fan will actually slow down more often because it can cool itself more efficiently now. The dust traps the heat and makes you waste more power. Dust off your amps, televisions, fridges, furnaces, etc.
4. Get an Electronic Thermostat - This sucker will pay itself off within a month if you buy a simple one. Lower the temperature that your home is heated to while you are out at work, or away from home. For added savings, lower the temperature when you are asleep and have it warm up your home just prior to when you wake up.
5. Wrap your Water Heater - Go touch the side of your hot water tank. If its not insulated you’ll probably feel that it is pretty warm. All that heat is escaping away from the hot water where it should be. Head down to your local hardware store and get an insulating blanket for your tank to trap the heat inside the water. While you do this, check to see what setting you are on. Some have it set to the hottest setting by default. Adjust it one notch down. Now you just might need to mix less cold water into the mix when showering.
6. Skip the Heat Dry Option on Your Dishwasher - Theres no need to incinerate your dishes after washing. If you give everything a light rinse before placing into your dishwasher, they will be clean. Just let it air dry and save on the costs to run the heater.
7. Your oven door has a window, USE it - I’ve seen this countless times when people are preparing something in the oven. They open the door to look inside every 2 - 3 minutes to monitor the progress of their food. Either learn to cook without having to check every 2-3 minutes, or use the window on the oven door. After you are done baking, keep the oven door open to let the radiant heat escape to warm up your home. Oh and last thing about the oven, Don’t use the self cleaning feature. Get off your lazy ass and clean it by hand.
8. Turn off the Master Power switch on your powerbars - If you are leaving on an extended trip away from home, don’t just shut off your computer monitor and have all your stereo equipment on standby. Shut everything off, then turn off the master power. When your stereo equipment is on standby mode, it is still using electricity. Unless you need to access your computer while you are away, shut it off completely.

10. Close your doors, windows, patio doors, etc when it is cold outside - If you’re going to leave your windows open when its cold outside, you might as well just throw money out the window and let it blow away.
Notice I didn’t include stuff like: Take shorter showers, or use less water when brushing your teeth, etc. These 10 items do not impact your lifestyle and it will save you money.
